Laura was born and raised in Calgary. She studied business at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, then law at the University of Calgary, including a semester abroad in Austria. Laura works as a lawyer in the public sector and enjoys a good book and planning her next travel adventure in her free time.
Hardave was born in Thompson, Manitoba and grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. He studied computer science at the University of Alberta, where he also worked for more than 12 years. Hardave moved to Calgary in 2015 and works as an account manager at an IT firm while also running his own small business. He enjoys biking, playing volleyball, and hopes to take greater advantage of the mountains nearby.
Laura & Hardave met in the fall of 2017 on a dating app where, in spite of their love of rival NHL hockey teams, they both swiped right.
On their first date just before Laura was about to take a trip to Japan, Hardave brilliantly suggested that Laura check out a show called ‘The Good Place’. Two weeks later, Laura was watching the show and disturbing passengers with her stifled laughter on an otherwise-silent bullet train, while also thinking about what great taste that Hardave guy had in TV.

Together Hardave and Laura enjoy cooking, spending time in the mountains, and walking, entertaining and shushing Laura’s dog Keysi. They are still negotiating the acceptable number of spaces between typed sentences. Laura and Hardave both love to travel and are excited to begin exploring the world together, starting with their honeymoon to Cyprus and Greece in June.
